G Center (Identity) — one of the nine energy centers in Human Design. An open G Center absorbs a sense of identity and direction from those around you. Your sense of self may shift depending on who you're with, or you may feel pressure to know 'who you are' and 'where you're going'. The search for a stable self can become an endless quest. Your identity is not fixed — it's fluid and capable of reflecting many facets of human experience. You can feel belonging to different places and people, finding love and direction through others.

If this center is open in your chart, you absorb and amplify this energy from those around you.

Defined Center
If this center is defined in your chart, you have consistent and reliable access to this energy.

Not-self question
“Are you asking yourself 'who am I?' or 'where am I going?' with a sense of anxiety or lostness?”
Wisdom of the open center
Your identity is not fixed — it's fluid and capable of reflecting many facets of human experience. You can feel belonging to different places and people, finding love and direction through others.
Practical tips
- 1Instead of 'who am I?' ask 'what am I feeling right now?' — identity reveals itself through action
- 2Surround yourself with people and places that feel right — they carry direction for you
- 3Don't force yourself to have a stable 'mission' — your path reveals itself gradually

In 57.3% of corpus charts. The centre is not inherently commoner or rarer: 10 of the 36 channels reach it, and that alone accounts for almost all of the frequency.
Across all nine centres, "how many channels reach it" against "how often it is defined" correlates at r = 0.972. Thirteen channels touch the Throat and it is defined in 70%. Three touch the Head: 24%. Geometry, not temperament.

- Richard Rudd
