What Is a Right Angle Incarnation Cross
The incarnation cross is the deepest level of your design in Human Design. It is determined by four gates: Personality Sun and Earth (conscious) and Design Sun and Earth (unconscious). These four gates form a "cross" that describes your life theme and purpose.
Right Angle crosses represent personal destiny. Approximately 64% of people have a right angle cross. This means their life path is focused on their own experience and self-discovery. They carry no karmic load from past lives — their journey is purely personal.
Three Cross Geometries
Human Design recognizes three incarnation cross geometries:
- Right Angle — personal destiny. Profiles: 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6, 4/6. You come into the world for your own experience. Your encounters with people are "coincidences" driven by your geometry
- Left Angle — transpersonal karma. Profiles: 5/1, 5/2, 6/2, 6/3. Your destiny is tied to other people and karmic connections
- Juxtaposition Cross — fixed destiny. Single profile: 4/1. An absolutely fixed path with no variations
How to Live with a Right Angle Cross
If you have a right angle cross, it means several important things:
- Your journey is about you — don't try to "save the world" or carry responsibility for others' fates. Your task is to live your own experience as authentically as possible
- Encounters are "random" — people appear in your life through geometry of movement, not karmic connection. This doesn't mean they're unimportant — they're simply part of your personal path
- Self-knowledge is your greatest resource — the deeper you know your design, the more precisely you live your cross

Examples of Right Angle Crosses
There are over 100 variations of right angle crosses. Some of the most common:
- Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx (gates 1, 2, 7, 13) — theme of self-expression and direction
- Right Angle Cross of the Vessel of Love (gates 2, 1, 14, 8) — theme of higher calling and contribution
- Right Angle Cross of the Unexpected (gates 41, 31, 28, 27) — theme of new experience and cycles
- Right Angle Cross of Planning (gates 37, 40, 9, 16) — theme of community and agreements
Each cross has a unique theme, but all right angle crosses share one thing: they are about your personal path. Follow your strategy and authority, and your cross will unfold naturally.
