The Solar Plexus — The Emotional Motor

In Human Design, the Solar Plexus is one of nine centers in the bodygraph. If this center is defined (colored in) for you, you are an emotional being. This means your emotions move in waves — from highs to lows and back again. Approximately 50% of people have a defined Solar Plexus.

The cardinal rule for emotional people: there is no truth in the moment. No decision made at the peak of emotions (positive or negative) will be correct. You need time to ride through the wave and find clarity.

Three Types of Emotional Waves

Human Design identifies three main types of waves, each associated with specific channels:

• Individual wave (spike) — channels 39-55, 22-12. This wave is characterized by sudden bursts of emotion. A person can be in a steady state and then unexpectedly plunge into deep melancholy or euphoria. The burst is sharp, like a spike on a graph.
• Tribal wave (need) — channels 37-40, 19-49, 6-59. This wave builds gradually, like an escalation. The person accumulates needs and expectations, and if they are not met, an emotional explosion occurs. After the explosion — a reset.
• Collective wave (desire) — channels 36-35, 41-30. A wave of expectation and disappointment. The person feels a desire for new experience, excitement from anticipation, then possible disappointment if reality does not match expectations.

Waiting for Clarity

Clarity is the key concept for people with emotional authority. But what does it mean in practice?

1. Do not make decisions in the moment — neither when you feel great nor when you feel terrible
2. Give yourself time — at least one night for small decisions, several days for big ones
3. Check your decision at different phases of the wave — if something feels right both on the high and on the low, that is your clarity
4. Clarity is not 100% certainty — it is approximately a 70-80% feeling that "yes, this is mine"

Important: clarity is not the absence of emotions. It is the moment when you can feel your decision through the emotions, not because of them.

Emotional Authority in Decision-Making

If the Solar Plexus is your inner authority, it always takes priority. Even if you also have a defined Sacral with its response, emotional authority stands above it. This means:

• Your sacral response shows direction, but the final decision comes through the emotional wave
• Learn to say "I need time" — this is your superpower
• People with emotional authority often make the best decisions when they give themselves space
• Impulsive decisions are your greatest enemy

Practical Tips for Emotional Beings

Living with a defined Solar Plexus is an art. Here are some tips:

• Observe your wave — keep a mood journal for a month to see patterns
• Warn those close to you — "I am at the low of my wave right now, it is not about you" is a powerful phrase
• Do not identify with the low — the melancholy will pass; it is chemistry, not truth
• Create during the low — many great works were created in the lower phase of the wave
• Physical activity — helps move energy during a wave stagnation
• Avoid alcohol and stimulants — they distort the natural wave

Emotional People and Relationships

In partnerships, one partner's emotional wave affects both people. If both partners are emotional, their waves can resonate or clash. If one partner is non-emotional (open Solar Plexus), they amplify the emotional partner's emotions.

The best approach: communication. Talk about where you are on your wave. Do not make important relationship decisions at emotional extremes. Build a composite chart to understand the emotional dynamics of your relationship.
