12 Human Design Profiles: Your Life Role

What Is a Profile in Human Design?

A profile is a combination of two numbers (for example, 3/5 or 6/2) that describes your life role. The first number is the conscious line (what you are aware of), the second is the unconscious line (what others see). Together they form your unique way of interacting with the world.

Calculate your bodygraph to discover your profile, and visit our learning section for deeper understanding.

6 Lines — The Building Blocks of a Profile

  • Line 1 — Investigator: Needs a deep foundation of knowledge. Feels insecure without a solid base. Learns through research.
  • Line 2 — Hermit: A natural talent that needs a call from outside. Loves solitude for developing their gifts.
  • Line 3 — Martyr/Experimenter: Learns through trial and error. Life is a laboratory — every "failed" experience brings wisdom.
  • Line 4 — Opportunist: Works through a network of contacts. Opportunities come through connections. Friendship and community are key.
  • Line 5 — Heretic: Others project them as a "savior." Has practical solutions for others but must protect their reputation.
  • Line 6 — Role Model: Three life phases: before 30 (experiments), 30-50 (observing from the "roof"), after 50 (wisdom and authority).

The 12 Profiles

Profile 1/3 — Investigator-Martyr

Researches deeply and tests everything in practice. A person who has been through the most experiences and can share real wisdom.

Profile 1/4 — Investigator-Opportunist

Builds a deep foundation of knowledge and shares it through a close circle of contacts. Needs a stable network for realization.

Profile 2/4 — Hermit-Opportunist

A natural talent that needs the right environment to unfold. Friends and community "pull" this person out of solitude.

Profile 2/5 — Hermit-Heretic

Others see them as a practical savior, though they seek peace. The challenge is balancing solitude with others' expectations.

Profile 3/5 — Martyr-Heretic

An experimenter who finds practical solutions for others through personal experience. Adaptive and resilient, but needs to protect their reputation.

Profile 3/6 — Martyr-Role Model

Goes through countless experiments in the first half of life to become a wise example after 50. A three-stage path from chaos to authority.

Profile 4/6 — Opportunist-Role Model

Builds opportunities through connections, gradually becoming a role model for the community. Friendship is the foundation of their influence.

Profile 4/1 — Opportunist-Investigator

A fixed profile: a solid knowledge base plus a strong network. Influences others through deep understanding and relationships.

Profile 5/1 — Heretic-Investigator

Others project the ability to solve problems onto them. A foundation of deep research allows them to truly meet expectations.

Profile 5/2 — Heretic-Hermit

Others project a savior role onto them, though they consider their abilities natural. Need time for solitude between "missions."

Profile 6/2 — Role Model-Hermit

A three-stage journey combined with natural talent. After 50, they become an authority "called out" from solitude for wise guidance.

Profile 6/3 — Role Model-Martyr

The most experience-rich profile. Three life stages with countless experiments. Wisdom comes through lived experience.

How to Use Profile Knowledge?

Your profile is not a limitation — it is a map. Understand your natural role and allow it to unfold. Do not try to be someone you are not by design.

"Your profile is the costume you wear on the stage of life. Wear it with dignity." — Ra Uru Hu
