What is Splenic authority in Human Design?
Splenic authority is an inner, instinctive decision-making style in Human Design. People with this authority are advised to wait for spontaneous, in-the-moment hunches and gut signals from the spleen center rather than overthinking.
In Human Design, splenic authority is one of the seven inner authorities and is defined when the spleen center is defined in the bodygraph and the emotional solar plexus is undefined. It is considered the most instinctive and fast-acting authority, oriented toward survival, health, and present-moment awareness.
People with splenic authority are encouraged to trust their first gut feeling or sudden hunches rather than working through logic or dialogue. Splenic guidance often arrives as an immediate whisper, a flash of intuition, a sense of ease or uneasiness about a person, place, or decision. It is meant to be acted on in the moment, because it tends to fade quickly once the mind begins to analyze.
Practically, this means paying attention to bodily sensations, spontaneous dislikes, and subtle warnings that something is or is not safe or right. Waiting to reason things out, or asking others for advice, usually weakens the signal. Over time, honoring these instinctive impressions is said to support better health, wellbeing, and decision clarity.
Human Design frames splenic authority as a self-knowledge tool rather than a scientifically proven method, so results come from personal experimentation and honest self-observation.
