Five Types — The Foundation of Human Design
Type is the first thing to know about your design. It determines your strategy (how to act correctly), signature (a sign of living correctly), and not-self theme (a sign that you're living someone else's life).
Generator — 37% of the Population
Strategy: Wait to Respond
Signature: Satisfaction
Not-Self: Frustration
Aura: Open and Enveloping
Generators are the builders of civilization. They have sustainable sacral energy that needs proper application. The key is not to initiate, but to respond to what comes from the outside. When a Generator does the right work, they feel deep satisfaction.
Manifesting Generator (MG) — 33% of the Population
Strategy: Wait to Respond, then Inform
Signature: Satisfaction
Not-Self: Frustration and Anger
MGs are multi-taskers. They combine the Generator's sacral energy with a motor connection to the Throat. Their gift is the ability to skip steps and do several things at once. But everything starts with response.
Projector — 20% of the Population
Strategy: Wait for the Invitation
Signature: Success
Not-Self: Bitterness
Projectors are natural leaders and guides. They lack sustained sacral energy, so working smart, not hard, is essential. When a Projector receives the right invitation and is recognized — they achieve true success.
Manifestor — 8% of the Population
Strategy: Inform Before Acting
Signature: Peace
Not-Self: Anger
Manifestors are the only type capable of initiating action without external stimulus. Their closed aura can repel others, so informing removes resistance. When a Manifestor lives correctly, they feel peace.
Reflector — 1-2% of the Population
Strategy: Wait a Lunar Cycle (28 days)
Signature: Surprise
Not-Self: Disappointment
Reflectors are the mirrors of the community. All their centers are undefined, making them deeply sensitive to their environment. Before a major decision, a Reflector needs to live through a full lunar cycle to see the situation from all angles.
