What determines your Human Design type?
Your Human Design type is determined by your birth data—date, exact time, and location—and the resulting Bodygraph reveals it.
Your Human Design type is determined by your birth data: the exact date, precise time, and place you were born. These three pieces of information are used to cast what the system calls your Bodygraph, a visual map of nine energy centers and sixty-four gates derived from I Ching hexagrams, combined with elements drawn from astrology and the Kabbalistic Tree of Life.
The actual type calculation comes from which of those centers are defined in your chart. The four main variables are which centers are colored in, the channels connecting them, and the specific gates activated. The system looks at whether the Throat Center is connected to a motor center and whether certain channels are present, then sorts the result into one of five energy Types: Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Manifestor, or Reflector.
In other words, nothing about your behavior, personality, or life choices decides your type. Only the mechanical calculation from your birth moment does. Once your chart is calculated, your type is fixed and does not change over your lifetime. This is why getting an accurate birth time is important, because even small time differences can shift which gates and channels are active and potentially change your type entirely.
