What is single definition in Human Design?

The Single definition is one of the four definition types in Human Design, found alongside Split, Triple Split, and Quadruple Split. It happens when a person's defined centers (the ones showing color in their bodygraph) all link together through a single defined channel. This creates one continuous connected circuit, so there is only one area of the aura that lights up, producing a consistent energetic signature others can sense and rely on.

Because the energy flows through one continuous definition, people with a Single definition tend to have a clear, consistent presence. They often experience less internal contradiction than those with split definitions, and their words, actions, and timing usually align. This can make them feel stable and grounded, and others frequently describe them as dependable or coherent. Strategically, the Single definition reflects the type's strategy: Generators and Manifesting Generators respond, Manifestors initiate, Projectors wait for invitations, and Reflectors wait a full lunar cycle.

The practical implication is that consistency is a strength. When living in alignment with their strategy and authority, people with a Single definition find decisions more straightforward because their energy is not split between competing circuits.
