A reflector is a mirror that reflects the energy of others. His authority is lunar, not rational. This means that he does not look for the answer himself, but waits for the solution to manifest itself in him naturally. For a Reflector, every choice—career, relationship, place to live—makes sense only in the context of…
Lunar Authority (Reflector) — an inner authority in Human Design — your reliable way of making correct decisions. The only authority for Reflectors. Decisions ripen over a 28-day lunar cycle — one key question per cycle. Lunar authority is the slowest and deepest. Reflectors are completely open: no center is defined. They mirror the energy of their environment and the Moon. During the 28-day lunar cycle, the Moon activates all 64 Gates in sequence, and each new activation gives the Reflector a fresh perspective on a decision. Only after a complete cycle does clarity arrive.

Lunar Authority (Reflector)
The only authority for Reflectors. Decisions ripen over a 28-day lunar cycle — one key question per cycle.
How it works
Lunar authority is the slowest and deepest. Reflectors are completely open: no center is defined. They mirror the energy of their environment and the Moon. During the 28-day lunar cycle, the Moon activates all 64 Gates in sequence, and each new activation gives the Reflector a fresh perspective on a decision. Only after a complete cycle does clarity arrive.
Decision-making process
Note the date when the question arose. Over 28 days, speak about it with different people in different places. Write down how your perspective shifts. Notice how you feel in different environments — around which people does the decision feel right? After 28 days, clarity will either arrive on its own or it will become clear that the decision needs more time.
Strengths
- ✓Unique ability to mirror and measure the health of their environment
- ✓Wisdom that synthesizes many perspectives over a complete cycle
- ✓Neutral and deep vision that transcends personal bias
Not-self state
Reflectors who are pressured into quick decisions may make choices that contradict their nature. They too easily absorb the influence of their environment and take others' decisions as their own. The not-self state is disappointment and alienation from their own experience.

Measured across 13,793 real chartsLunar authority belongs exclusively to the Reflectors and consists of making decisions through the 28-day cycle of the Moon, passing through all 64 Mandala Gates. During this period, the Reflector collects impressions from communication with different people and environments, and the final clarity comes only with time, so the key condition is to take your time and not succumb to the pressure of the environment.
- Ilse SendlerEmphasizes the false perception of Reflectors as vulnerable, revealing their strength through openness, and illustrates the alternating rhythm of active interaction and seclusion on the example of the 2/4 profile.
- Lynda BunnellEmbeds the Lunar authority in the general system of seven internal authorities and emphasizes the consequences of ignoring it - disappointments and loss of lightness, as well as the dependence of well-being on the environment through an open G-Center.
- CurryConsiders Authority paired with Strategy as two components of navigating life, protecting against destructive scenarios and opening the flow of the right circumstances.
- Chetan ParkynPresents the cycle as a 29-day cycle and emphasizes the practice of physical withdrawal—space, silence, and solitude—as a necessary condition for distinguishing one's own attitude from the influence of others.
Sandler and Parkin differ in the length of the cycle (Sandler does not specify the number, Bunnell indicates 28 days, Parkin 29) and in emphases: Parkin emphasizes the importance of physical distance and silence, while Sandler and Bunnell emphasize the broader rhythm of gathering impressions and the influence of the environment.
Transits are a daily lesson for Vestnik. Deep understanding comes through attunement to and natural sensitivity to the Program. Observing how the Program works, the Herald learns about himself, the influence of the planets, and how the Program itself shapes humanity. The Messenger's ability to take a sample allows him…
The common perception of Reflectors as vulnerable and helpless is false. In fact, their strength lies in their openness to the world. In matters of decision-making, they are guided by the so-called Lunar authority: this is a "walking conference" that requires live communication with different people. They collect thoug…
