The 4th line of the Hexagram of Caring is the line of externalized nourishment. Its theme is the foundation of caring expressed through networks of mutual support, opportunity, and influence. The Gift

Nourishment becomes currency: I will feed you, but only if you remain loyal, only if you fulfill my expectations, only if you stay inside the circle. The opportunity-seizing quality of the 4th line mutates into opportunism: the network is exploited rather than served. The native may also become dependent on the network for identity, losing the internal foundation of the 6th-level harmonic and chasing validation through connection.
