The Line in the Hexagram

Gate 35 is built on the image of fire beneath the earth — something brewing, uncontainable, asking to erupt. The 5th line is the fourth stroke of the upper trigram (Dui, the Lake), the position of the kingly figure in the classical I Ching court. This is where the energy of the hexagram is projected outward. The 5th-line expression of 35 is not the quiet restlessness of the lower lines — it is the charismatic spearhead of change.
