The Line's Keynote

Line 1 in the hexagram is the foundation of the well. While Gate 48 as a whole describes the depth of resources that can be drawn up from the inner aquifer — wisdom, well-being, talent, and the fear that the well may run dry — Line 1 is the investigative basis from which that depth can ever be reliably accessed.
