Human Design in Business: From Self-Knowledge to Profit
Human Design isn't just a personal growth tool. The BG5 (Business Group 5) system is an adaptation of Human Design for the business environment, helping build effective teams, find the right people for the right positions, and make strategic decisions.
What Is BG5?
BG5 is the career and business application of Human Design, developed by Ra Uru Hu:
- Types become business roles
- Centers define team functions
- Channels reveal skills and talents
- Authority determines decision-making style
Types in Business
Generator: The Workforce
Generators (~37%) are the engines of any business with stable, sustainable energy.
- Ideal role: specialist, craftsman, executor
- Strategy: wait for work to "respond to." A Generator who loves their work outperforms five who don't
- Mistake: initiating projects instead of responding to requests
- Management: give specific tasks and ask "Do you want to do this?"
Manifesting Generator: The Multi-Potentialite
MGs (~33%) are the fastest workers on any team.
- Ideal role: multitasker, crisis manager, startup team member
- Strategy: let them work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Mistake: limiting to one task — boredom kills productivity
- Management: flexible schedule, varied tasks, freedom in methods
Projector: The Natural Leader
Projectors (~20%) are guides and managers. They see others more deeply than people see themselves.
- Ideal role: manager, consultant, coach, HR, strategist
- Strategy: wait for invitation to a position. An invited Projector will be recognized and effective
- Mistake: giving advice without being asked — perceived as criticism
- Management: recognize their expertise, invite them into decision-making
Manifestor: The Initiator and Visionary
Manifestors (~8%) are founders and initiators.
- Ideal role: CEO, founder, creative director, turnaround manager
- Strategy: inform the team BEFORE implementing plans
- Mistake: acting without informing — the team feels left out
- Management: give autonomy, don't micromanage, just ask them to inform
Reflector: The Organization's Barometer
Reflectors (~1%) are health indicators of a company.
- Ideal role: auditor, evaluator, corporate culture observer
- Strategy: give a lunar cycle for important decisions
- Mistake: pressuring for quick decisions
- Management: ask about team atmosphere — they sense what others can't see
Building a Team with HD
An ideal team needs a balance of types:
- Manifestor sets direction and creates impulse
- Projector organizes processes and manages people
- Generators and MGs execute the work with energy and enthusiasm
- Reflector evaluates team health and decision quality
Authority and Business Decisions
How your Authority affects business decision-making:
- Emotional: never sign contracts in an elevated state. Wait 24 hours
- Sacral: trust the "yes/no" body response to proposals
- Splenic: first impression is correct. Intuitive decisions
- Ego: "What do I want?" — the honest answer to this question
- Self-Projected: talk through the decision with a trusted person
