Splenic Authority: Trusting Your Intuition

Splenic Authority is instant bodily wisdom. Learn how to recognize and trust your intuition.

Splenic Authority: Bodily Wisdom in the Moment

Splenic Authority is the authority of instant intuition. The Splenic Center is the most ancient awareness system in the body, connected to survival, health, and instinctive knowing.

A person with Splenic Authority has a defined Splenic Center and an undefined Solar Plexus. Their decisions are correct when made in the moment.

How the Spleen Speaks

The Spleen speaks quietly and only once:

  • Spontaneous "yes" or "no" — a bodily sense of safety or danger
  • Goosebumps — the body reacting to right or wrong
  • Feeling of heaviness or lightness — a bodily response to a decision
  • Instinctive repulsion — a sudden urge to leave or refuse

Difference from Emotional Authority

Unlike Emotional Authority, where you need to wait, Splenic Authority requires action in the moment. If you postpone the decision — the moment is gone, and the intuitive signal won't repeat.

How to Develop Trust in the Spleen

Most people with Splenic Authority have learned to ignore their intuition due to conditioning:

  • Start small — practice with minor decisions
  • Pay attention to bodily signals — learn to notice instant sensations
  • Don't rationalize — if the body says "no," don't convince yourself with the mind
  • Keep a journal — record when you followed intuition and when you ignored it

When the Spleen Shows Up in an Ordinary Day

You are standing at the deli counter and the person ahead of you is deciding. You have no preference, but a small tug in your chest pulls you toward the rye over the sourdough. You take the rye. It turns out to be the freshest loaf in the case. That tiny pull was the Spleen, working under the noise of ordinary life. Later, a friend suggests a restaurant you have never heard of. The thought of walking in produces a faint sinking, a kind of quiet dread in the gut. You suggest somewhere else instead. You cannot explain why. The Spleen does not owe you explanations; it only gives you the signal. The more you watch for it, the more you notice it has been running in the background of small choices your whole life, often drowned out by the louder voice of the mind or by what other people seem to expect.

What It Feels Like from the Inside

The Splenic signal is not a thought, an image, or a sentence. It arrives as a bodily event, and if you try to translate it into language, it is often gone. Sometimes it is a flash of clarity, a sudden knowing that is already fading, like a word on the tip of your tongue. Sometimes it is a tightening in the throat, a held breath, or the opposite: an exhale you did not realise you were holding. Goosebumps can arrive on the arm when you hear the right name, the right plan, the right person. A sense of heaviness settles in the chest when a path is wrong; a kind of lightness, almost a buoyancy, accompanies the correct one. Because the signal is fleeting, there is often a brief panic afterwards, a checking of whether you really felt it, or whether you imagined it. That second-guessing is not the Spleen. The Spleen speaks once. The doubt that follows is the mind trying to reopen a door the body has already closed.

Common Misreadings and How to Tell Them Apart

It is easy to confuse Splenic Authority with fear, preference, or the pull of the moment. Fear tends to come with images of what could go wrong, and it usually narrates a story. The Spleen does not narrate; it simply registers. Preference is shaped by taste, habit, and memory, the things you have learned to like. The Spleen has no memory, only an immediate read on the present. Impulse is another imposter, the urge to act quickly because you are bored or restless. The Splenic signal arrives calm and clean, and it disappears whether or not you act on it. To tell them apart, notice the body after the signal. If you feel contracted, urgent, or pulled by excitement, the voice is probably not the Spleen. If you feel quieter, more grounded, and slightly more yourself, it likely is. Practising with small, low-stakes choices, the kind a journal can hold, is the most reliable way to learn the difference.
