Incarnation Cross of the Sphinx (Juxtaposition) — Gate 2
The Theme of the Cross
The Incarnation Cross of the Sphinx carries the archetypal energy of the Sphinx itself — a guardian of mysteries, a keeper of thresholds, a presence that watches the comings and goings of those who pass before it. The Sphinx does not teach in a linear way. It orients by simply being.
The designation Juxtaposition means the four gates of this cross sit alongside one another rather than opposing each other. The energy is concentrated, directional, and unified — like a single beam of focused light rather than two poles in tension. The four gates are 2/1 (the Channel of the Self — Design and Direction) and 13/7 (the Channel of the Role of the Self, the Trickster). Together they form one complete circuit: higher knowing (2), identification with the creative self (1), listening to inner memory (13), and the role-play of the self in interaction (7).
The Right Angle — Personal Destiny
As a Right Angle cross, the Sphinx is a personal destiny cross. Its purpose is not primarily transpersonal. Those embodying it are here to fulfill a personal life purpose, and through that fulfillment, serve the larger whole. The journey is inward, self-referential, and worked out through the body, the relationships, and the unique circumstances of one particular life.
The Right Angle produces four variants of the cross — four different ways the same theme can be lived. With the conscious Sun in Gate 2, the person experiences the cross primarily through the lens of Direction.
