Energy Type: Manifesting Generator

A Manifesting Generator is one of the four types in Human Design, and it blends two distinct capacities. It carries the Generator's sacral life-force and stamina, plus the Manifestor's ability to initiate and act. MGs are built to respond, build, and move through the world with both grounded energy and a spark of action.

The shadow side: frustration when stuck in work that doesn't light the sacral up, and a tendency to overcommit because they say "yes" so quickly to whatever responds in them. Roughly a third of the population falls into this type.

Strategy: To Respond (and to Inform)

The MG strategy has two parts. First, respond — let life bring things to you, then check the body's "uh-huh" or "uh-uh" before engaging. Second, initiate by informing — once a MG is moving, telling people what they're doing clears the path, because they are not waiting for permission the way a pure Generator would.

For a director whose work so often responds to existing stories — historical figures, real events, a specific poem or a specific grief — this strategy mirrors a responsive, rather than imposed, creative process. The films Larraín is publicly known for tend to feel as if the material has found him, not the other way around.

Authority: Emotional

The Emotional Authority is sometimes called the Spiritual Authority. Decisions are not made in a single flash of clarity; they are made **over time over time**, riding the emotional wave until it settles into something clear, then acting from that clarity. For a filmmaker drawn to grief, death, and the long aftermath of trauma — *Jackie*, *Ema*, *El Club* — this authority makes sense: he is not someone who decides quickly, but someone who waits for the emotional current to tell him when a story is finished with him.
