Planetary Transits and the Open Centers
What a Transit Actually Activates
Every planet moving through the sky is, in Human Design terms, traveling through the lines and gates of the I'Ching. When a transit crosses one of the nine centers in your chart, it lights that center up — temporarily. If the center is defined, you feel visited: an old, familiar energy becomes loud again, and you may not know why. If the center is open, something else happens. The open center, which is usually a quiet hum or a familiar ache, suddenly becomes loud. The theme of that center — pressure to think, emotional waves, identity shifts, willpower, intimacy, awareness, direction — becomes the backdrop of your whole day.
This is the most important thing to understand: a transit does not complete, heal, or fix an open center. It amplifies it. It gives you a concentrated, time-limited taste of what that energy is like when it is operating at full volume in your field.
Who Feels It and How
The transit is felt differently depending on the chart.
If you have the center defined, the transit simply highlights what is already yours. A defined Sacral during a Mars transit feels like more life force, more availability, more momentum. Useful, but not transformative.
If you have the center open, the transit is a teaching. You are being handed an opportunity to see, in high definition, what that theme looks like when it is not yours. You will feel the pull to identify with it. You will feel the pull to act on it. You will feel the pull to fix it. None of those pulls are yours to follow. The pull is the conditioning moving through you. The wisdom is in noticing it.
The Strategy of Riding the Wave
Strategy and Authority are not philosophical concepts. They are survival tools during transits, especially the heavy ones — Pluto through the Spleen, Saturn across the G, Neptune over the Ajna, Uranus across the Head.
Your Type's Strategy tells you how to engage with the amplified energy. Generators and Manifesting Generators are not meant to initiate from the amplification — wait for the wave to move, then respond when something real makes the sacral sound. Manifestors can move the energy, but only after informing. Projectors must wait for recognition and invitation before offering what the transit is showing them. Reflectors need a full lunar cycle to know what a transit actually means for them.
Your Authority tells you when the wave is real. Emotional authority does not trust the first surge — wait for clarity over time. Sacral authority responds in the gut, in the moment, with sound. Splenic authority is quiet and survival-oriented. Ego authority is about will and commitment. Self-Projected
