Right Angle Cross of Informing — Gate 14

The Theme of Informing

This cross carries the theme of informing the world through embodiment rather than proclamation. The configuration holds that the most powerful transmission of information occurs through demonstrated living — the consistent, visible application of one's skills, resources, and direction. Those operating through this cross are not primarily teachers in the verbal sense; they are demonstrators. Their presence, their choices, and the way they direct their energy become the message. The information the world receives is the information of what is possible when a human being fully occupies and applies what they have been given.

The Right Angle: Personal Destiny

The Right Angle belongs to the Quarter of Mutation and is oriented toward personal destiny fulfilled through the individual's unique nature. It is the "Spiritual" cross. Unlike the Juxtaposition, which transmits a collective direction, or the Left Angle, which expresses an unconscious deep pull, the Right Angle asks for a personal fate to be lived visibly. The person with this cross carries a magnetic, recognisable authority; what they demonstrate becomes, in itself, a form of information. Their example is the content.

The Conscious Sun in Gate 14

The conscious Sun — the fixed quality the personality is meant to develop, recognise, and consciously express — sits in Gate 14, the Gate of Power Skills. In the I Ching, Gate 14 is "Possession in Great Measure": the disciplined accumulation of resources, talents, and inner strength. It is not raw force but well-managed power — competent, patient stewardship of skill over time. When the conscious Sun lives here, the individual is meant to become intimate with what they possess and how to direct it. The personality's work in this lifetime is the maturation of that power. Gate 14 is what the cross uses to inform: whatever the person builds, practices, and refines becomes the vehicle through which the world receives the message.

The Gate Configuration of the Cross

The Right Angle Cross of Informing is built on four gates, one in each arm of the mandala, with the conscious Sun placed in Gate 14 as the primary face the personality shows to the world. The Earth of that Sun grounds the expression in the body, so what is demonstrated is not only the power-skill of Gate 14 but its embodied application across time. Together these four gates form the specific contour through which the theme of informing is delivered; nothing else carries this particular signal.

When the personality lives according to strategy and authority, Gate 14's distortion of misusing force — overworking skill to prove worth or hoarding resources out of fear — corrects itself. The right direction of resources and the patient stewardship described in the I Ching return naturally, and the informing becomes clean. Out of alignment, the same gate becomes compulsive exertion, a grinding that consumes the very power it means to demonstrate. Through correct response, the gate becomes a steady engine: what the person has built, practiced, and refined is offered simply by being lived, and the world reads the message without a word being spoken.
