Energy Type: Manifestor
In Human Design, Sam Peckinpah is a Manifestor, one of the rarest and most initiating Types. Manifestors are designed to start things, to move first, and to make an impact on others. About 9% of the population, they are the natural initiators of the world. Where Generators and Projectors are designed to respond, the Manifestor pushes forward. This is a Type that runs on agency and is meant to leave a mark.
Peckinpah was publicly known as a director who did not wait for permission. He made films on his own terms, often against the wishes of studios, producers, and conventional taste-makers. As a Manifestor, his design supports this kind of leadership: the ability to initiate a creative vision and then move on, leaving others to follow, resist, or catch up as they will.
Strategy: To Inform
A Manifestor's Strategy is "to inform" — to let the people who will be affected by their actions know what they are about to do. The Theme when living correctly is peace; the not-self Theme is anger. Manifestors who do not inform generate friction; Manifestors who do inform, generate cooperation.

He clashed with producers, was fired and rehired on multiple projects, and was known for a difficult on-set temperament. From a Human Design lens, this is a textbook expression of an uninformed Manifestor running into walls — the anger not-self surfacing when initiation meets resistance. When a Manifestor informs, things flow. When they don't, things get loud.
Authority: Ego (Ego-Manifested)
Ego Authority is one of the more interior Authorities, rooted in the channel between the Heart and Solar Plexus centers. Sometimes called Ego-Manifested Authority, it is designed to make decisions from a place of willpower and genuine desire — a heart-based "yes" or "no." It is considered an unstable or motor-based Authority, easily overridden by the mind, and the instruction is to slow down before committing.
