It is a mechanical instruction encoded in the neutron stream of the bodygraph.
The Appetite Axis — Up and Down Arrows
The appetite axis addresses the when of eating, a question the body answers long before the mind does.
The Down Arrow — Consistent Appetite. Individuals with a Down Arrow are biologically designed to eat three structured meals a day at regular intervals. Their digestive fire is regulated by routine. Skipping meals or eating erratically does not produce flexibility—it produces mechanical distress. Consistency is not discipline for these beings; it is their natural state.
The Up Arrow — Variable Appetite. Those with an Up Arrow are designed to eat only when genuinely hungry, and to stop when satisfied. Their appetite arrives in waves, not schedules. Forcing structured meals is biologically alien to them. The myth that humans must eat three times a day is, for Up Arrow beings, a misapplication of one strategy onto the entire species.
The Perception Axis — Left and Right Arrows
The perception axis addresses the how of interacting with food and environment, governing the sensory-motor relationship to what is taken in.
The Left Arrow — The Observer. Left Arrow beings need to see their food before eating. The visual interface is the first digestive step. The presentation, the colors, the visual quality of what they are about to consume activates their salivary and gastric response. Eating in darkness, or accepting food without visual contact, disrupts the entire digestive sequence.
The Right Arrow — The Demonstrator. Right Arrow beings need the active demonstration of eating. They require engagement with another person who is also eating, or a self-directed action of preparing, serving, and consciously interacting with their meal. The motor of demonstration initiates their digestive process. They are designed to eat in the presence of others or through a clear ritual of self-service.
The Four Arrows Combined
When the appetite and perception axes intersect, four distinct biological strategies emerge:
- Left Up — Hunger Observer
- Left Down — Consistent Observer
- Right Up — Hunger Demonstrator
- Right Down — Consistent Demonstrator
Each combination is a complete mechanical instruction, and none is superior to another. A Right Down being is not "more disciplined" than a Left Up being; they are simply wired to engage with sustenance differently. Honoring the arrows is honoring the body's innate intelligence.
PHS — The Primary Health System
Built upon the foundation of the Variable, the Primary Health System (PHS) is a holistic framework for well-being. Ra Uru Hu named six interconnected elements that together form a complete lifestyle technology:
1. Diet — one of seven dietary regimens determined by the inner authority, the profile, and the arrows.
2. Environment — the optimal setting determined by the design, where the body relaxes and operates efficiently.
3. Perspective — the appropriate interpretation of life events, governed by the type.
4. Motivation — the correct motivational principle (often associated with the view of the manifestor/generator dynamic in the chart).
5. Sense Awareness — the most refined mode of perception, related to the Variable's perception arrow.
6. Cognition — the specific way an aura processes and communicates information.
Together with the four arrows of the Variable, these six elements form a complete system for living in alignment with one's design.
