The I Ching Root: Biting Through
The I Ching name for Gate 21 is Shih Ho - Biting Through - and this is not a gentle hexagram. The image is of jaws clamping down on something solid, of obstacles that cannot be negotiated with, only broken. Hexagram 21 speaks to justice, integrity, and the willingness to face what others avoid. In its shadow, it tips into aggression, manipulation, or a compulsion to dominate.
