Why the Mind Is Not the Best Advisor
Imagine you're facing a major decision: change jobs, relocate, start a relationship. Your mind starts analyzing, making pros-and-cons lists, searching for logic. But Human Design says: the mind is a wonderful tool for understanding the world, but terrible for making personal decisions.
Instead, every person has an Inner Authority — a built-in mechanism that knows exactly what's right for you. Authority is determined by the configuration of your defined Centers in the bodygraph.
Emotional Authority (Solar Plexus)
The most common Authority — roughly 50% of people. If your Solar Plexus is defined, your truth lives in the emotional wave. This means: never make decisions at the peak or trough of an emotional wave.
Practice: Give yourself time. Ride out the emotional wave — from enthusiasm to doubt and back. When the emotion levels out, you'll feel clarity. This can take hours to days.
Sacral Authority
Available only to Generators and Manifesting Generators with an undefined Solar Plexus. The Sacral Center responds with sounds: "uh-huh" (yes) or "uh-uh" (no). It's an instant body response.
Practice: Ask yourself simple yes/no questions and listen to the body's reaction. Don't think — feel. The response comes within seconds.
Splenic Authority
The authority of intuition — instant, quiet, and one-time only. The Spleen "speaks" just once. If you miss the signal, it won't repeat. It might be a feeling of "something's off" or, conversely, a quiet "yes."
Practice: Trust the first impulse. Don't analyze it — just act. Splenic Authority works in the moment.
Ego Authority (Heart Center)
A rare Authority connected to willpower. The decision comes through a feeling: "I want this" or "I don't need this." Ego Authority works in cycles — after a period of effort, rest is needed.
Practice: Ask yourself: "What do I truly want?" If the answer comes from deep in your chest — that's your Authority.
Self-Projected Authority
This Authority appears in certain Projectors. Truth reveals itself through talking — when you speak about a decision out loud, you hear your truth in your own voice. You don't need advice — you need a listener.
Practice: Find a trusted person and simply talk about the situation. Listen not to them, but to yourself.
Environmental Authority and Lunar Authority
Environmental Authority (Mental Projectors) — the right environment helps you arrive at a decision. Lunar Authority (Reflectors) — wait a full lunar cycle (28 days) for clarity.
How to Find Your Authority
Authority is determined automatically when your bodygraph is calculated. It depends on the hierarchy of defined Centers: if the Solar Plexus is defined, it's always Emotional Authority (regardless of other Centers). Next comes Sacral, then Splenic, and so on.
