Strategy Is Not Theory — It's a Daily Practice
When people learn their Human Design Type, they often ask: "Okay, I'm a Generator/Projector/Manifestor — now what?" The answer is simple: live your Strategy. It's the only practical tool Human Design gives you from day one.
Strategy is not a set of rules. It's a way of interacting with the world that matches your energetic mechanics. When you live your Strategy, decisions become easier and resistance decreases.
Generator: Wait to Respond
The Generator's Strategy is to respond, not initiate. This doesn't mean sitting at home waiting. Live a full life, but before major decisions, check in with your Sacral Center.
- At work: instead of taking on new projects from the mind, wait until something "grabs" you. Felt a surge of enthusiasm for a task? That's your response
- In relationships: don't start "we need to talk" conversations from the mind. Wait for the moment when your body naturally responds to the need to speak
- Choosing food: look at the menu and notice what elicits a "mmm" — that's your choice
Manifesting Generator: Respond + Inform
MGs combine Generator and Manifestor strategies. First wait for a response, then inform those around you about your actions. MGs often jump from one thing to another — and that's fine, as long as each jump starts with a response.
- At work: your superpower is speed and multitasking. But check: are you taking this on because there's a response, or because you "should"?
- At home: inform your family about your plans. "I'm going for a run now" — instead of silently disappearing
Projector: Wait for the Invitation
The trickiest Strategy to understand. An invitation isn't just a formal letter. It's recognition of your value. When someone genuinely asks your opinion, offers an opportunity, or requests help — that's an invitation.
- At work: don't push your ideas. When asked — share. Your advice will be received with gratitude when it's invited
- In relationships: don't try to "fix" your partner without being asked. Wait until they request help themselves
- Rest: Projectors need more rest than Generators. Don't compare your productivity to a Generator's
Manifestor: Inform
Manifestors are the only Type that can initiate. But their Strategy is to inform those around them before acting. Not asking permission — simply notifying.
- At work: "I'm going to launch this project" — not a question, a statement. This removes resistance from others
- In relationships: informing is respect for your partner, not a limitation on your freedom
- Important: when a Manifestor doesn't inform, they encounter anger and resistance from others
Reflector: Wait a Lunar Cycle
Reflectors are the rarest Type (~1%). Their Strategy for big decisions is to wait a full lunar cycle (28 days). During this time, the Moon transits through all 64 Gates, giving the Reflector a complete picture.
- Small decisions: you don't need to wait 28 days to choose lunch. The lunar cycle is for major life decisions
- Environment: Reflectors are highly sensitive to their surroundings. The right place is key to your well-being
Your First Week of Experimenting
Try living one week according to your Strategy. Note when you followed it and when you didn't. Pay attention to the results: was there less resistance? Did you feel more satisfaction?
